Experience
School has never been easy for me. However, through perseverance, helpful teachers, and supportive parents, I have overcome my academic obstacles. Because of my struggle, I want to help students excel in school. I believe every student is intelligent and capable of learning. It is my privilege to help the student discover how s/he learns and teach according to that learning style. As a senior Elementary Education student at Concordia University Chicago, I have had much experience teaching and working one-on-one with Elementary students, specifically in language arts, literacy, STEM science, social studies, and math. Another rewarding tutoring experience was at my community college, where I tutored students with learning disabilities. I tutor Elementary and Middle School math, Phonics, Reading, Writing, Essay Editing, Study Skills and Organization, Pre-Algebra, and Spanish. I love helping young students thrive in literacy, math, writing, and science because a child's elementary school years are pivotal for their success in school. Another favorite to tutor is Spanish. I am pursuing a Transitional Bilingual Endorsement, which will allow me to teach in English and Spanish at the grade school level. I am taking multiple upper level Spanish courses and studying for exams. Also, by spending eight weeks in Spain this past summer, I was able to improve in my oral and aural skills. I strive to make learning interesting and fun. I am patient, enthusiastic, and able to discern students' misunderstandings and can clearly communicate. Finally, I strive to foster confidence and offer helpful studying techniques.
