EducationWashington University in St. Louis - BA, Elementary Education (minors: Spanish and Psychology)
ExperienceI tutor in many areas including elementary school Spanish, philosophy, reading, writing, math, and social studies. The process of learning is enjoyable to me as is sharing this love with my clients. When tutoring, I create individualized plans to target students' strengths and weaknesses, in turn boosting their chances of academic success. I also aim to provide the tools enabling them to be problem solvers, build their confidence, and raise their interest in academics. This is achievable by creating a positive and supportive environment that's conducive to learning. At Washington University in St. Louis, I majored in Elementary Education and my minors were in Spanish and psychology. All through college, I tutored as part of the Each One Teach One program and worked at underperforming schools in the St. Louis area. I plan to work at an enrichment program for advanced 3rd to 5th grade students this summer. In the fall, I hope to have my own classroom and I will be certified to teach in both Missouri and Illinois. Already, I've taught in classrooms, seen the different ways students learn, and have developed unit plans and individualized lessons.I enjoy music and piano, theater, and dance when not working.
